WHATSWHAT COLLECTIVE WIN MUUTO TALENT AWARD 2010

Scandinavian design company Muuto has recently again called for the next generation of designers to give their perspective on New Nordic design.

The results of their second annual competition for students from Scandinavian design schools have just been announced - with Konstfack design trio Whatswhat Collective scooping first prize this year with their 'Pull' Lamp.

Back in the spring, 20 design schools from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland were invited to participate in Muuto’s design contest, (The Muuto Talent Award) and hundreds of students submitted their designs within the categories of furniture, lamps and home accessories.

M.E. spotted the talent of the Whatswhat Collective back in May and we think the Muuto jury were bang on with their selection of Whatswhat as winners.

Among the jury’s arguments for choosing the 'Pull' lamp were the design’s “strong Scandinavian references in both material and appearance” combined with some “surprising and neat functional features”.

A well deserved well done to Whatswhat Collective for their win and nod of approval to Muuto for continuing to support young design talent.
