AISSA LOGEROT AT COMING SOON GALLERY

Young designer Aïssa Logerot's latest project is literally coming soon to Coming Soon Gallerie in Paris.

Logerot, an award-winning ENSCI graduate and former student from the cabinetmaking course at École Boulle specialises in simplicity which will be aptly demonstrated from the 28th of April with the exhibition of 'Bookcase'.

'Bookcase' is a bookshelf conceived horizontally, where books are arranged flat, with the wooden structure suggesting the simple shape of a tree trunk cut into planks.

Constructed from six horizontal planks of identical lengths but different widths, Logerot has created a shelving system which gives the illusion of an overhanging construction; accentuated by elements of wood positioned between the planks that mark the spaces of the bookshelf.

This visual effect of 'empty and full changes the perception of 'Bookcase' depending on the viewing angle.

Intended as an island for readers to be placed in the middle of a living room, it features two front sides, and since the upper plank is at seat height, the piece combines the function of bookshelf, console, low table and bench.

Nice and simple, and clearly developed with easy use in mind - as Logerot explains:

“As a designer, I do not conceive a particular aesthetic ideal, I especially appreciate the simplicity of forms reflecting the evidence of a function, of a use”.

Bookcase will remain on show at Coming Soon until June the 25th.
