Raul Chavez recently graduated with a degree in Industrial Design from the Tec de Monterrey Campus Guadalajara in Mexico, and here's a look at one of the projects in his portfolio.
The 'Hypocrite Collection' is a small range of jewellery that plays with the idea of an object attempting transformation - from black coral found in Southeastern Mexico, to silver - and in the process, creates some very beautiful, delicate results.
"The term "hypocrite" comes from the Greek hypokrites, ie, stage actor. In the Greek world, the actors wore a mask to portray a character. They showed a 'face', but then had another." Raul says of the concept.
Gathering influences and solutions from all that surrounds him; understanding the idiosyncrasies of culture, traditions and people is one of Raul's central design principles, so at the moment, he's off travelling around Chile.
We reckon on his return, Raul will have plenty of food for thought for his next project..
