BIG WONKYS BY VANJA BAZDULJ

Vanja Bazdulj, currently designer in residence at the Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, London Metropolitan University, has recently created these super-sized soft felt and resin vessels called 'Big Wonkys'.

Continuing her celebration of 'accidental aesthetics' and the beauty of the imperfect, Vanja's 'Big Wonkys' are large scale storage containers which were commissioned by Keith Johnson of Anthropologie.

Based on the Wonky pots 'Edition 01', which were originally comprised of seven small vessels, this series has been scaled up - measuring from 80cm to 120 cm high.

"Their structure allows for some manipulation as they are not completely stiff and are somewhat elastic and ready to store some stuff." says Vanja.

"Like things in nature: corals or stone formations in oceans or mountains come about by multiple conditions and accidents of their environment, these objects are celebrating the aesthetics of combining different materials and techniques."
